Knowing in her heart at an early age that she wanted to follow a path into journalism, Amy became a newspaper reporter and later a school public relations professional. Desiring to inspire creativity and enhance literacy in future generations, Amy furthered her professional path into the field of education and has more than 25 years of service to elementary and middle school children as a teacher and literacy specialist in South Carolina's public schools.
Her most recent and celebrated publication is her first novel, Lucky. Her book was inspired by the people and places surrounding her Florida home. As an experienced writer, Amy has captured the ocean views and salty air of her book's setting in this heartfelt story of a boy and his furry companion.

After moving to Florida in 2020, Amy and her husband Brian enjoy the next chapter of their lives surrounded by the scenery and ocean breezes of Florida's Space Coast. Amy continues to work with students and educators, sharing her love of creative writing and literacy. She holds a Master of Arts in Teaching in Elementary Education and a Bachelor of Arts in News Editorial Journalism. Amy has maintained her South Carolina teaching certificate with endorsements in gifted education and literacy. She also holds a Florida elementary education certificate with reading endorsement.
Amy is available to serve as a guest author for speaking engagements, writer-in-residence, and presenter on the art of creating a literacy-rich environment and teaching author's craft.
